Triodos Bank is a frontrunner in ethical banking and global impact investing. We believe money can change the world for the better — our organisation was founded on that belief.
As Local Head of Business Banking, you will lead the next phase of Business Banking in the Netherlands. You will be accountable for commercial performance, responsible growth and the local execution of our impact strategy, while playing a key role in implementing and championing a significant transformation of our business lending activities. This is a full-time position (36 hours per week) with the opportunity to influence the direction of ethical finance.
How you will make a difference
You will help us to “finance change and change finance” by leading a high-performing Business Banking function that delivers impact, manages risk and achieves strong commercial results.
Your central challenge: lead growth with purpose, maintaining the right balance between impact, risk, and return, while guiding a significant transformation. This includes building a culture of performance, championing data-driven decision making, and helping teams adopt new technologies, including AI-enabled solutions, to simplify work and adapt to evolving roles.
You will:
- Lead the execution of the Business Banking strategy for all business clients in the Netherlands, with clear accountability for impact delivery, commercial performance, business development and responsible lending growth.
- Work closely with the group program that implements a new business lending strategy and end-to-end lending journey redesign. Making sure there is a disciplined translation into local ways of working, policies, procedures and tactical plans across the teams.
- Champion the adoption of new technologies and AI-enabled solutions, helping colleagues build the curiosity, confidence and practical skills needed to work with new tools and adopt new ways of working responsibly.
- Build a stronger performance culture by setting clear objectives, using data and management information to steer progress, and making performance management more visible, constructive and action-oriented across the department.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant networks, existing and potential business clients, and represent Triodos Bank in external forums and sector networks.
- Share local market and sector knowledge, developments and opportunities within transition themes with group colleagues to further improve strategy, proposition development and pricing.
- Lead the local Business Banking operation in line with business principles, managing risks within the function in line with group risk policies.
Your future colleagues
You will report to the Managing Director of Triodos Bank NL and lead the local Business Banking function of around 70 people. You are part of the management team of Triodos Bank NL and the international Business Banking platform.
You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders up to the most senior levels, as well as several group departments and value streams.
What you will bring
Your unique potential and your values matter most to us. We look for a leader who is self-aware, commercially strong and able to connect people to a clear purpose, while bringing the discipline needed to deliver results. To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Senior experience in business lending, including sound credit judgement, responsible portfolio development and the ability to make clear choices on which financing Triodos Bank does and does not provide.
- A clear personal connection with our mission, values and our transition themes, demonstrated through both your motivation and experience.
- Proven leadership experience in a commercial banking or financial services environment, with the ability to set direction, build teams with ownership, strengthen performance management and deliver results.
- Experience in leading through transformation, including helping teams move to new ways of working and building confidence during a transformation.
- Experience with and curiosity about technology and AI, combined with the ability to drive practical adoption of AI-enabled solutions across teams.
- The ability to analyse data, management information and insights and translate them into actions.
- Professional proficiency in English and Dutch, both spoken and written.
