Do you want to make a difference and contribute to creating a better world? Are you interested in developing your skills and knowledge, while putting your ideals to work? Join us, we are a frontrunner in ethical banking and global impact investing, and we need people like you to make change happen.
We believe that money can change the world for the better. In fact, our organisation was founded on this belief. Our mission is to create a society that protects and promotes the quality of life of all its members with human dignity at its core.
Currently, we’re expanding our international Risk Management capabilities. Due to our ambitious goals to further professionalise our second-line controls, we would like to bring on board a Senior Financial Risk Manager for a 32 - 36 hour position.
How you will make a difference
You will help us to ‘change finance to finance change’, by further developing the second-line Liquidity & Market Risk practice and providing strategic, mission-aligned advice to our senior management. Next to analysing and challenging the results prepared by the first line of defence:
-
You will oversee the measurement and management of financial risks from a strategic second-line perspective.
-
You will co-create and monitor adherence to the Risk Appetite Statement and methodological frameworks.
-
You will challenge ALM and Stress Testing models throughout their entire lifecycle, from initiation to monitoring.
-
You will prepare high-quality reports and opinions for the management board and governance committees.
-
You will stay ahead of regulatory developments like IRRBB and SREP to ensure robust implementation.
-
You will act as a professional sparring partner for internal stakeholders and external regulators.
The Liquidity & Market Risk (LMR) team, part of Group Risk Management, works from our international Head Office in Zeist and services the European business units. In the area of LMR Management, we are looking for an enthusiastic new colleague who wants to further develop the second line LMR practice in Triodos Bank; to analyse and challenge results prepared by the first line of defence for LMR and to prepare second line opinions and strategic advice related to LMR for senior management and the management board. Therefore, we have a vacancy in the Liquidity & Market Risk team for a
Senior Financial Risk Manager (32 - 36 h/wk)
With your specific knowledge and experience in the area of Liquidity & Market Risk, Asset and Liability Management (ALM) and financial (risk) modelling, you will help Triodos Bank further strengthen its LMR practice.
- Oversee and contribute to the measurement and management of financial risks from a second line perspective and further develop the fundamental view on Liquidity and Market Risk.
- Co-create, monitor and report on adherence to the Risk Appetite Statement, methodological framework and control structure for LMR management.
- Challenge individual ALM & Stress Testing models used for LMR management throughout the Model Lifecycle from the initiation phase to model use and monitoring.
- Participate in and prepare materials/reports for relevant governance committees, including the management board.
- Keep up with developments of internal and external regulations relevant to LMR (e.g. IRRBB, SREP) and challenge the implementation of these regulations by the first line of defence.
- Effectively manage internal and external stakeholder relationships and contribute to (preparation of) discussions with the regulator.
The team
The LMR-team plays a prominent role in the wider Group Risk Management function. With various ambitious goals and deadlines on the agenda, the LMR team is guaranteed to offer challenging work ahead.

You ask the right questions, work in a structured way and you like to investigate with an eye for detail, without losing sight of the big picture. With your pragmatic and engaging attitude, you are always ready to help your colleagues, but also understand that the second line control perspective sometimes requires a firm challenge. You're a team player and you share our mission. Coordinating your work with stakeholders and creating solutions that meet their needs requires excellent communication skills.
This is complemented by:
- a relevant quantitative analytical background (e.g. in the field of mathematics, econometrics or actuarial science);
- extensive work experience in the area of (financial risk) modelling, Liquidity and Market Risk management, ALM and/or stress testing in a banking environment;
- excellent command of English; command of Dutch is an advantage;
- eye for quality improvement and innovation; and
- good knowledge of and experience with understanding and analysing relevant programming (e.g. VBA, R, Python, SAS).
What you will bring
Your unique potential and your values matter for us most. We look for people who are self-aware and who think in a holistic way, always conscious of their impact on society, environment, and the economy.
To be successful in this role, you will:
-
be able to influence and persuade stakeholders by creating solutions that meet their needs and the bank's mission.
-
act with integrity and honesty when providing a firm challenge from a second line control perspective.
-
set focus and empower others by sharing your expertise in ALM and financial risk modelling.
-
connect with co-workers and partners through an engaging attitude and excellent communication skills.
Furthermore, it is expected that you will have: -
previous experience in Liquidity and Market Risk management in a banking environment.
-
proven experience with Asset and Liability Management (ALM), stress testing, and financial modelling.
-
practice in working with programming languages such as VBA, R, Python, or SAS.
-
good command of English, both written and verbal (Dutch is an advantage).
Your future colleagues
You will be reporting directly to the Group Director Financial Risk Management and cooperate closely with the wider Group Risk Management function and international business units.
