The Opportunity:
Triodos Bank UK (TBUK) provides a range of business and retail banking services, including Business lending to UK businesses and organisations across a range of sectors. We are excited to be recruiting for our next internship intake to join our Business Banking team on a 13-month placement scheme, which will run from the beginning of August 2026 until the end of August 2027.
Our business banking team launched our internship programme, and this will be our 7th year running the scheme which has continued to be a huge success.
Operating as part of the TBUK Business Banking team, our placement students will support Triodos in delivering a first-class service to our customers. This will involve collaborating with and gaining exposure to the various areas of Business Banking, including Relationship Management, and Lending Operations.
You will work effectively within the TBUK Business Banking department & the wider TBUK business, to ensure that impact, customer service and business objectives are given utmost priority.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Working co-operatively with other TBUK departments to maximize business opportunities for the bank, taking personal responsibility for own development activities for the duration of the placement
- Communicating with customers, potential new customers & local professionals via face-to-face meetings, telephone, email, and post to maximise our impact
- Interacting regularly & professionally with internal stakeholders.
- Complying with all risk related activities e.g. reputational, credit, operational & regulatory
- Attending internal & external conferences/events/workshops, representing the bank
- Building and managing customer, partner, and introducer relationships, supporting relationships with other key customers and partners
- Identifying Triodos Bank opportunities for (a) prospective Business, Personal and Investment Banking customers from all forms of media including membership magazines and (b) media articles/letters
- Supporting back office processes and working closely with internal stakeholders to maintain efficient workflows.
There will also be opportunities for project work which will directly benefit the TBUK business & support your own personal development e.g. identifying new business opportunities, researching potential new sectors, improving the way in which we serve our customers. You will get to spend your first month with our current placement students, who will be able to support you with your initial training and induction.
What we are looking for:
To be successful in this role, you will possess excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, with an ability to work confidently and effectively with internal teams and external partners. Strong numeracy and analytical skills with a good working knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel, as well as an ability to quickly learn how to use other IT support systems as needed. Finally, you will be a diverse thinker with an adaptable and flexible approach and have a genuine interest in positive social and environmental change.
