Do you want to make a difference and contribute to creating a better world? Are you interested in developing your skills and knowledge, while putting your ideals to work? Join us, we are a frontrunner in ethical banking and global impact investing, and we need people like you to make change happen.

We believe that money can change the world for the better. In fact, our organisation was founded on this belief. Our mission is to create a society that protects and promotes the quality of life of all its members with human dignity at its core.

Currently, we’re looking for a Data Scientist – KYC Risk Modelling to strengthen our Data & Analytics department.

How you will make a difference

At Triodos Bank, we finance only what adds real value to people and the planet. To keep doing that responsibly, we need strong, transparent risk models and data foundations. That’s where you come in.

In this role you will focus on the technical side of (KYC&FC ) risk modelling and the model management lifecycle, serving all Triodos Bank branches.

You will be a key contributor in ensuring that Triodos’ risk models are robust, explainable and well-managed throughout their lifecycle.

You will:

  • Design, build and maintain risk models and analytical solutions with a strong focus on data quality, reproducibility and technical excellence.
  • Own and enhance parts of the model management lifecycle: development, implementation, documentation, monitoring, validation support and periodic review.
  • Translate risk requirements into clear technical specifications, data pipelines and model designs.
  • Work closely with KYC & FC risk model experts to align technical solutions with regulatory expectations and business needs.
  • Contribute to a consistent model governance framework across all Triodos Bank branches.
  • Implement machine learning techniques (AI/ML) to accelerate the business.
  • Promote best practices in data and model management, such as version control, testing, model performance monitoring and explainability.
  • Support the D&A and Risk teams with ad‑hoc analyses and insights to further strengthen our risk management capabilities.

What you will bring

You are motivated by purpose and impact, and you value integrity in both finance, KYC and data. You’re comfortable navigating complex stakeholder landscapes and enjoy turning risk questions into well‑engineered analytical solutions.

You bring:

  • Proven experience in a risk modelling, data science or quantitative analytics role within a regulated environment (preferably in financial services).
  • Strong hands‑on skills in Python and SQL, and experience working with large datasets.
  • Experience applying statistical models and machine learning techniques (AI/ML) in practice, with a clear understanding of when to use them — and when not to — in a regulated risk context.
  • The ability to design models that balance predictive performance with explainability, stability and regulatory requirements, avoiding unnecessary complexity or “black box” solutions.
  • Practical experience developing and running models on Databricks, including notebooks, jobs and structured environments.
  • Experience with the model lifecycle (development, implementation, documentation, model risk management and/or validation).
  • Understanding of risk management concepts, ideally including KYC & financial crime, or related regulatory risk domains.
  • Experience with version control, reproducibility and explainability in analytical models.
  • Ability to work effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders, bridging technology and business perspectives.
  • A structured, ownership‑driven mindset with attention to detail.
  • Comfort working with KPIs and SLAs, ensuring reliable execution and timely delivery.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both spoken and written. French, Spanish and/or Dutch are a plus.

Your future colleagues

You will work closely with our Risk Model Experts in KYC & Financial Crime (KYC & FC), who bring the business perspective, while you bring depth in data, technology and model governance.
