How you will make a difference

As our design system intern, you will contribute to one of the main objectives of the team: enable all our digital channels (mobile apps, web apps and group website) to use our new, improved design system. This means migrating existing components into structured, scalable Figma files using auto layout and our variable system but also supporting the ongoing UX work creating new components and improving our design operations in collaboration with value streams teams. Concretely, you will:

• Migrate existing components into the new design system in Figma
• Apply auto layout principles to ensure components are responsive and structured
• Use our token/variable system correctly across components (color, spacing, typography)
• Document component behaviour and usage guidelines
• Flag inconsistencies and raise edge cases for team review
• Collaborate closely with the lead UX designer for feedback and direction 

Besides that:

• You are currently enrolled at a Dutch University or Applied University and can provide a proof of enrolment
• You are currently living in the Netherlands and have a BSN.

What you will bring

We are looking for someone who is eager to contribute to the team’s efficiency and work quality, who understands that a design system is more than an asset repository, and that practice makes perfect.

To be successful in this role, you are:

• a motivated design student (preferably Master level) from HCI, CMD or Interaction design education
• organised and able to manage your time in an efficient way
• confortable with Figma (experience with auto layout, variables, styles is a plus) 
• detail-oriented: you notice inconsistencies and care about precision
• comfortable with structured, process-driven work 
• open to people and have developed good English communication skills

Your future colleagues

You will be part of a UX team of 4 designers and a UX Team Lead, working together with external design collaborators and a researcher. The team is in the process of moving into a centralised workstream alongside CX colleagues, reflecting the organisation's growing commitment to end-to-end customer thinking. Beyond the team, you will work closely with value streams’ leaders, developers, testers, colleagues from our commercial department, and subject matter experts from across the organisation.
