Job Description
Job Title:  Experienced UX/Service Designer
Req Id:  744
Business area:  Digital and Technology
Job Level:  Senior
Job Location (Short):  LA Driebergen-Rijsenburg, NLD

Do you want to make a difference and contribute to creating a better world? Are you interested in developing your skills and knowledge, while putting your ideals to work? Join us, we are a frontrunner in ethical banking and global impact investing, and we need people like you to make change happen.

We believe that money can change the world for the better. In fact, our organisation was founded on this belief. Our mission is to create a society that protects and promotes the quality of life of all its members with human dignity at its core.

We are looking to further grow and mature our design practice, improving the experience we offer to business and consumer clients across our digital touchpoints, and helping our organisation adopt a truly holistic approach to customer journeys. We are moving away from a reactive, ticket-driven model towards a practice that shapes how the organisation thinks about its customers: end-to-end, not just screen by screen. Central to that shift is building an evidence-based practice, gathering and using data to drive better prioritisation and design decisions. To make this real, we are looking for a Senior UX / Service Designer who works at the intersection of craft, facilitation, and evidence: someone who raises the bar for the team, challenges fragmented ways of working, and turns ambiguity into clear, measurable design action.

You will be joining at a moment of real change. The organisation is in the middle of a rebrand, restructuring how it thinks about customer journeys, and actively building a more mature design practice. There is no steady state to slot into, and that is intentional.

How you will make a difference

You will work closely with the design lead and a team of designers at an inflection point — experienced in delivery, but eager to develop deeper research and systems thinking skills — in an environment that is complex, fast-moving, and full of opportunity. Concretely, this means:

Make data and testing a habit, not an afterthought

  • Proactively identify, access, and leverage available data sources to ground design decisions and build the team's confidence in evidence-based practice
  • Define clear baselines before starting work and measure impact after — on business outcomes, internal clarity, or team inspiration
  • Test solutions with real users before committing, not because the process asks for it, but because you know assumptions are expensive

Drive customer journey thinking across the organisation

  • Facilitate cross-functional workshops that bring siloed stakeholders together around shared customer journeys, replacing fragmented alignment meetings with collaborative, outcome-oriented sessions
  • Introduce and champion journey-based framing — not as a process exercise, but as a way to make smarter design bets

Execute with a lean, experimental mindset

  • Pick the right battles: run focused experiments that demonstrate impact quickly rather than waiting for the perfect strategy
  • Bring structure to prioritisation in an understaffed, over-fragmented context — helping the team move from reactive to intentional

Inspire the team and mentor juniors

  • Model what good design looks like in practice — asking the right questions, challenging assumptions, going beyond screen delivery
  • Help junior designers develop their craft through doing, not lecturing — pairing, reviewing, and role-modelling rigorous, curious design work

What you will bring

We are looking for someone who can find clarity in ambiguity, bring hands-on energy, and create structure where there isn't any yet — a doer as much as a thinker.

To be successful:

  • You have a bias for evidence: you run focused experiments, define a baseline, measure what happens, and share what you learn, openly and without ego
  • You do not move forward on assumptions when a quick test can give you an answer. Testing is instinct, not ceremony
  • You move things forward through small, tangible steps — making change feel natural for the people around
  • You are a skilled organisational navigator: you read people well, build trust quickly, and know how to create the conditions for good work to happen
  • You have a genuine interest in mentoring and growing colleagues. Curiosity, patience and generosity are non-negotiable

Besides that:

  • You hold a university or applied university degree at Master’s level in interaction design, service design, or UX design with a strong theoretical and methodological foundation and bring solid working knowledge of design fundamentals that you can apply and share within a team
  • 5+ years of experience spanning UX and service design, with a portfolio that demonstrates both hands-on craft and systems thinking, someone equally at home with journey maps and wireframes
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating cross-functional workshops: journey mapping, co-design, or service blueprinting with mixed, non-design audiences
  • Proficient in Figma, our primary design tool
  • Comfort with data: you know what questions to ask, where to look, and how to translate findings into actionable design rationale
  • Bilingual English/Dutch, our work is conducted in English, but our customers, their feedback, and our digital touchpoints are in Dutch

Your future colleagues

You will be part of a UX team of four designers and a UX Team Lead, working alongside external design collaborators and a researcher. The team is in the process of moving into a centralised workstream alongside CX colleagues, reflecting the organisation's growing commitment to end-to-end customer thinking. Beyond the team, you will work closely with product owners, developers, testers, domain leads, colleagues from our Commercial department, and subject matter experts from across the organisation. If you thrive on variety and cross-functional collaboration, you will feel at home here.

What we offer you
