We believe that money can change the world for the better. In fact, our organisation was founded on this belief. Our mission is to create a society that protects and promotes the quality of life of all its members with human dignity at its core.
Currently, we’re looking for an Internal Auditor.
As an Internal Auditor, you thrive in a dynamic environment and act as a trusted voice across the organisation. You look beyond the surface, ask the questions that need to be asked and translate your insights into practical, forward-looking recommendations that support Triodos Bank’s mission. You understand what good looks like in today’s rapidly changing digital environment and are motivated to build your expertise further.
Internal Audit supports the Board, Audit Committee and senior management by providing independent assurance and advisory on governance, risk management and internal control.
How you will make a difference
As an Internal Auditor, you will be part of the Group Internal Audit team based at the Triodos Head Office in Zeist, the Netherlands. You will carry out specialised and complex audit activities, build relationships across the organisation and contribute to improving our audit practices and annual planning. You will report to the Group Head of Internal Audit, support Senior Internal Auditors in large and complex engagements, and lead your own audits based on size and proportionality.
You will:
- Deliver key parts of the Group Internal Audit plan and execute end-to-end audit work independently: scoping, walkthroughs, control testing, documentation and drafting observations.
- Contribute to the evolution of our digital auditing strategy by integrating data analytics and supporting technology-enabled audit testing.
- Participate in general audit work for the bank and investment management, selected IT audit work and strengthen your understanding of digital, cyber, cloud and AI-related risks.
- Perform specialised internal audit activities using appropriate tools and techniques, working across business lines where needed.
- Lead projects and audits of moderate complexity, ensuring progress, quality and alignment with audit standards.
- Coordinate and support the preparation of internal audit reports, ensuring clarity, balanced recommendations and thorough documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve Internal Audit policies, guidelines, methodology and digital ways of working.
- Contribute to the annual audit planning process, bringing insights from your expertise, data analysis and developments observed across the business.
- Build familiarity with different business areas—including products, sectors and specialist domains—while deepening your own technical skillset.
- Apply and share your knowledge across teams, supporting colleagues through collaboration, coaching and insights.
- Engage constructively with stakeholders at operational and tactical levels, including Heads of Departments, project teams and business units.
- Build and maintain professional relationships across Triodos Group, including branches and support functions.
What you will bring
Your unique potential and your values matter to us most. We look for people who are self-aware and who think in a holistic way, always conscious of their impact on society, environment, and the economy.
To be successful in this role, you will:
- You have the technical grounding, analytical strength and professional maturity to deliver high-quality audit work while continuing to grow.
- 4–6 years of relevant experience in internal audit or related risk, control or compliance roles, ideally within banking, asset management or another regulated financial institution.
- Ability to independently perform specialised and complex audit activities and coordinate audit components or projects.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail, and the ability to identify meaningful improvement opportunities.
- Solid understanding of risk management, internal control and governance principles.
- Foundational experience with data analytics (e.g., Excel, SQL, Power BI/Tableau) and interest in applying analytics and AI to enhance audit delivery is highly desirable.
- Basic understanding of IT controls, information security and digital risks.
- Competent communicator, confident in engaging with stakeholders at different levels and presenting emerging observations clearly.
- Bachelor’s degree in auditing or another relevant field.
- Desirable professional qualifications (or working toward): ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIA, CISA, CPA or equivalent.
- Excellent command of English; Dutch is a plus.
- Willingness to travel (approx. 5–10 working days a year).
- EU work permit (or ability to obtain one).
