Job Description
Job Title:  Risk Model Specialist KYC & FC
Req Id:  923
Business area:  KYC and Financial Crime
Job Location (Short):  LA Driebergen-Rijsenburg, NLD

Triodos Bank is a frontrunner in ethical banking and global impact investing. We believe money can change the world for the better — our organisation was founded on that belief.

If you are excited by the challenge of ensuring we truly understand the Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and financial crime risk of our customers, this role will put you at the heart of that work. You will develop, test, validate, and monitor risk models that help Triodos stay compliant, protect against financial crime, and improve both efficiency and customer experience.

How you will make a difference

You will help us to 'change finance to finance change', by ensuring our CDD and Financial Crime risk models are accurate, effective, compliant, and continuously improved.

In this role, you will work in a complex and international environment, balancing requirements across countries, systems, and regulatory expectations. Success in the first period will mean building a clear understanding of the existing models, strengthening model governance, and helping ensure the Spanish risk model remains aligned with local requirements and integrated with our wider systems.

To get there, you will:

  • develop, refine, and validate financial crime risk models, including scoring logic, risk factor weighting, and segmentation
  • manage the model risk management lifecycle for assigned models, including testing, monitoring, and periodic validation
  • take responsibility for the Spanish risk model and ensure it meets local regulatory requirements
  • translate policy, procedure, and business requirements into system requirements, while documenting model limitations, assumptions, and mitigating controls
  • model risk scenarios and assess risk within the KYC and Financial Crime domain using statistical techniques
  • provide guidance on financial crime risk models to stakeholders including Compliance, Legal, Business, and IT
  • coordinate data collection activities and analyse transaction data to identify trends, anomalies, and new risk patterns
  • manage relationships with key stakeholders, including auditors and regulators, in an international context
  • maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology, regulation, and best practices in model risk management

Your future colleagues

You will work in an international setting with colleagues across Compliance, Legal, Business, and IT. The role sits in a context where close collaboration is needed to create feedback loops, strengthen model performance, and keep risk models aligned with business and regulatory needs.

You will also work with stakeholders across countries and functions, including auditors and regulators where needed. This means the role requires strong alignment across local and broader Triodos priorities.

What you will bring

Your unique potential and your values matter most to us. We look for people who are self-aware and who think in a broad, connected way, always conscious of their impact on society, the environment, and the economy. To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • experience developing, validating, and monitoring financial crime risk models, including scoring logic and risk factor weighting, or the ability to learn this quickly
  • experience with model risk management frameworks and techniques for model testing, validation, and monitoring, or the ability to learn this rapidly
  • experience in KYC and Financial Crime, preferably in a banking environment, or the ability to build this knowledge quickly
  • the ability to translate policy, procedure, and business requirements into technical specifications for IT and data teams
  • the ability to support the implementation of risk models in a way that is explainable, auditable, and compliant
  • experience managing relationships with key stakeholders and advising on compliance issues in an international context
  • the ability to maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology, regulation, and best practices in model risk management
  • professional proficiency in English (spoken and written); Dutch is a strong plus

We consider it a plus, if you have:

  • experience working with the Spanish banking environment or Spanish risk models
  • experience with machine learning or AI techniques in risk model development, with a focus on explainability and compliance
  • experience supporting IT teams in system development or implementation of risk models
  • relevant certifications such as ACAMS

You do not need to bring all of these. If you meet what the role needs above and some of this list, please do apply.

Just as important is how you work. In terms of soft skills and behaviours, you will:

  • work well across functions and countries to align needs, resolve differences, and build solutions that work in practice
  • deal well with complexity and make sense of requirements from different countries, systems, and risk perspectives
  • use technology and data confidently to support model development and improvement
