The Opportunity
Join our dynamic and fast-growing Business Banking team as a Relationship Manager. In this role, you’ll play a vital part in supporting sustainable businesses, with a particular focus on lending between £1–3 million. Our lending portfolio is centred on sectors such as elderly and specialist care, nurseries, SEN education, sustainable investment property, arts and culture, and similar values-driven organisations.
This role offers a clear development pathway: the chance to build strong relationship management and credit skills, learn from leading sector specialists, and progress into a Senior Relationship Manager position - either in our £1m–£3m generalist space or within a specialist sector team. You’ll have the opportunity to develop and manage your own portfolio, assess credit proposals, and work with like-minded clients who share our commitment to positive change.
This is a high-autonomy role suited to someone with developing commercial lending expertise and a passion for sustainability. Enjoy hybrid working with regular client visits and access to offices in Edinburgh, Bristol, and London.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate new business and lending opportunities in the £1–3 million range
- Assess and present credit proposals to the UK Credit Committee
- Manage a portfolio of clients across related sectors
- Build strong relationships with business introducers and professional networks
- Support the Team Manager in developing new markets
- Monitor risk and identify early warning signals
- Mentor colleagues and share knowledge
- Represent Triodos at events, promoting our values and services
About You
You’re an experienced commercial lender with a passion for sustainable business and values-led banking. You excel in building and managing customer relationships, have advanced credit skills, and a strong understanding of business financials and risk management. Confident communication and customer service are key.
Required Experience
- Experience in commercial lending and portfolio management
- Demonstrated success in lending (ideally in the £1-3 million range)
- Experience across a variety of sectors desirable
- Credit assessment and business development skills
- Excellent interpersonal and analytical abilities
- Relevant professional qualification desirable
